Special Dances

Question: If I wanted to start with one dance, what would you recommend?

Answer: Our best seller is Nightclub 1. It teaches freestyle dance steps for fast or slow rock and roll music and slow dance steps for romantic music. These steps are easy to learn. At most weddings and parties, you'll probably will be able to dance to at least half the dance tunes that are played. As a bonus, after the lesson has been completed, Kathy and her partner demonstrate the Fox Trot, the Waltz, the Jitterbug and the Tango. You can watch them and decide what dance(s) you would like to learn next.

Question: How long will it take me to learn a dance.

Answer: You should be able to learn the steps well enough in one weekend to be ready to go out dancing in public. Learn the steps, practice until you are comfortable doing the dance, then go out and join other couples enjoying the dance. (And start thinking about the next dance you'd like to be able to do!)

Question: What is the difference between "American Style" and "International Style" dance lessons?

Answer: American Style: The American dance studio dance course curriculum is usually based on the National Dance Council of America syllabus with popular variations. Names of figures and the timing CAN vary from one part of the country and/or from one studio to another.

International Style: Dance studios outside of the USA base their dance course curriculum on the syllabus of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in London, England for both Latin and modern ballroom dances. This standard is taught around the world using the same techniques, timing and styling.

Both of these styles are used in competitive dance contests. Both are used for social dancing. For the dance enthusiast, knowing both styles adds to the pleasures that come from dancing and adds polish to the dancers' performance when doing any dance.

Question: Can I keep the video for a just a few days and then return it and get my money back?

Answer: No. All videos are sold on the basis that they are not returnable for refund of purchase price. In the event a video is damaged during transit, a replacement video OF THE SAME TITLE will be sent to the customer after customer has returned damaged video.

Question: How long has this rule of no refund of purchase price of videos existed?

Answer: 14 years.

Question: Whose dance videos are you selling?

Answer: Sherry Smythe-Green, Butterfly Video, is the producer of the Kathy Blake Dance Studio videos which are sold on this site. Kathy Blake is a superb teacher with many years of experience. She knows what difficulties students have and she teaches accordingly. Dance teachers come to her studio from all over the country to learn how to be better teachers. Her videos have been best sellers for fourteen years.

Each video is approximately one hour long and the material covered is equivalent to two hours or more of private dance studio lessons which cost $50.00 - $100.00 per hour. The videos allow the student to review each lesson over and over until they get it perfect. With studio lessons, students often have problems remembering what they were taught.

Question: Whose techniques are demonstrated on the make-up videos?

Answer: Sherry Smythe-Green, Butterfly Video, is the producer of the David Nicholas videos sold on this site. Mrs. Green contacted David after viewing a television program which exemplified his marvelous work with burn victims as well as demonstrating his make-up skills.

David Nicholas is an internationally renowned make-up artist, aesthetician, reconstuctive/corrective make-up specialist, stylist and licensed instructor. He consults, lectures, demonstrates and instructs on both public and commercial TV and at the Massacusetts General Hospital, Children's Hospital, U/Mass. Medical Center, Shriners' Burn Institute and the Alopecia Foundation. He even teaches those who are blind how to apply make-up using his touch and feel methods.
